This conference is one where the participants all share a common interest and will communicate information about the very latest research into all health aspects of consuming more seafood. New discoveries and a deeper understanding of the health benefits of seafood are occurring at a rapid rate and this conference will highlight the very latest information available. Prevention is far better (and cheaper) than curing so the conference will also look at the best ways to apply this knowledge to improve the health of everyone from the unborn to those facing problems of old age.

The program will also feature experts such as Professor Michael Crawford, Founder and Director of The Institute of Brain Chemistry and Human Nutrition, London, the Conference Patron, as well as many others from institutions with the such as the UN Food and Agriculture organisation, the US National Institutes of Health, the Harvard School of Public Health and many others. Australian scientists and researchers have played a major part in this arena and this conference will encourage our people to promote the excellent work that has been occurring in Universities and research establishments in Australia. The aim is to encourage the whole seafood chain to work in partnership to take action to the challenges of market globalisation.

The conference program committees are seeking to deliver to the audience the latest science, research and information in the following streams and themes:

Health, Nutrition and Medical Science & Research – “Seafood: The Essential Ingredient for Health and Wellbeing”
Food Security and Sustainability - “Oceans for Health”
Human Behaviour and Communications - “Seafood for Life”

In addition:

The organising committee is preparing a special issue in the journal “Frontiers in Biosciences” to cover outstanding and important research activities presented at this conference. The journal "Frontiers in Bioscience" is a peer reviewed modern forum for scientific communication covering the field of biology and biomedical sciences and is indexed e.g. by PubMed and BIOSIS.
